In Peru, refurbished is a label each shop defines. The one using the word is the shop and not an authority, and Ley 29571 does not use it. Its article 11 speaks of used, rebuilt or remanufactured goods and requires that fact to be flagged prominently, on the product, its label, wrapping or packaging, and on the payment receipt. Ask what was checked, what was repaired and what warranty the shop offers. On Mercado Libre the "Reacondicionado" condition has written rules, among them a seller warranty of 90 days or more and a battery above 80% of its capacity.
What does refurbished mean?
Ley 29571 does not use the word "reacondicionado". Its article 11 requires that a used, rebuilt or remanufactured product be flagged "prominently" when it is sold, and that this be stated on the product, its label, wrapping or packaging, and on the payment receipt. Whether a refurbished item counts as "rebuilt or remanufactured" is our reading and not the text of the law. The rest, what was cleaned, what was replaced and what grade the device has, is decided by each shop and each platform. What happens to the warranty is in your rights when buying refurbished.
That is why it helps to know who is behind each listing. In Peru you find these things under similar names.
The five kinds you will find
1. Refurbished by the brand
This is when the manufacturer itself repairs and resells. Lenovo Outlet Peru sells refurbished and open box products with 6 months of warranty from receipt. It is the only manufacturer outlet we found in Peru and it had 3 products on 1 October 2026. For Apple, the address apple.com/pe/shop/refurbished returned 404 that day, so we did not find an Apple refurbished programme for Peru. If a listing says "refurbished by Apple", ask who answers for the warranty.
2. Specialist shop
These are the shops that live off this, and each defines its own scale and its own warranty. What their sites stated on 1 October 2026:
- Reuse Peru. Refurbished and open box items with 13 months of warranty and a 30-day trial.
- Smart Leben. iPhones and Galaxy phones. Its warranty page says all its products are refurbished, with 12 months.
- Catapu. Used iPhones with a 1-year warranty.
- Lolotec. iPhones and Galaxy phones in Grade A, B and C, with up to 12 months and a 15-day trial.
- Clevercel Peru. iPhones it calls "seminuevos", with 12 months and a 30-day trial or your money back.
- NixBlix Peru. "Semi nuevo" Apple products, with 12 months on iPhones.
- KPDM. New and refurbished products, with "hasta 1 año" (up to 1 year) of warranty depending on the product.
- CompuOutlet. Business laptops and PCs, with a warranty of 6 to 12 months per product. Its listings say "Remanufacturada" and "Open Box".
The shop that sells to you is the one that answers. Before paying, ask for its legal name and its RUC.
3. Marketplaces of big retailers
Falabella, Plaza Vea, Oechsle, Promart and Shopstar publish offers from many sellers, and each seller sets its own warranty on the offer. Plaza Vea, Oechsle, Promart and Shopstar share sellers and many identical offers, so do not add them together. Falabella has a condition field with values such as "Reacondicionado excelente (A)", "Reacondicionado detalle estético (B)" and "Open Box".
The same seller can show different terms in each channel. Reuse states 13 months on its own site and an offer of theirs on Falabella said "Garantía del proveedor: 1 año". Also, 26 of the 70 Falabella sellers we reviewed are companies from abroad, and on the offers we sampled most show no warranty. With those sellers, ask first about the IMEI and the registration, as explained in how to check an IMEI.
4. Mercado Libre Peru
On Mercado Libre Peru, "Reacondicionado" is a condition with rules. According to Mercado Libre's documentation for sellers, the seller must load the product's warranty, of 90 days or more, and to enter the refurbished catalogue it must state a grade, with these definitions:
- Excelente. Subtle signs of use and a screen with no marks or imperfections.
- Bueno. Small signs of use and a screen with no marks or imperfections.
- Aceptable. Noticeable signs of use and a screen with scratches.
All three grades require more than 80% battery capacity. The one who complies is the seller, not Mercado Libre. The buyer-facing pages on refurbished items (ofertas/reacondicionados and l/reacondicionados-faqs) did not exist on 1 October 2026, so what we know of the rules comes from the seller documentation.
5. Pre-owned, open box and outlet
"Seminuevo" is a label each shop uses its own way, and several use it as a synonym for refurbished. Clevercel and NixBlix use it on their iPhones, Catapu sells "used iPhones", and Falabella and Plaza Vea set "Open Box" apart as a class of its own. Since there is no legal definition, ask what the shop means by the word it uses, what was checked or repaired and what warranty that label carries.
Grades are the shop's words
"Grado A", "Grado B", "Grado C", "Excelente" or "detalle estético" mean whatever each shop says they mean. Lolotec uses Grade A, B and C. Falabella uses "Reacondicionado excelente (A)" and "Reacondicionado detalle estético (B)". KPDM uses Grade A and Grade B. Mercado Libre defines its three grades. The only thing you can compare from one shop to another is what the shop writes in its definition, so ask for it in writing before buying.
How Reacondi uses it
Reacondi compares refurbished, pre-owned and used electronics from Peruvian shops. It does not sell or touch devices. Confirm the listing warranty directly with the seller. A category only appears when it has at least 3 visible offers. In Peru we found no shop selling refurbished TVs, refrigerators, washers or microwaves with a stated warranty. On Mercado Libre we saw 3 refurbished TVs and 1 refrigerator on 1 October 2026, and no washer. If you are going to buy, continue with what to check when it arrives.
